What is Pilates?

Pilates is a series of exercises designed by Joseph Pilates to enhance posture, flexibility, strength and tone. Exercises can be done on the mat, or using specialised Pilates equipment. Like yoga, Pilates offers a mind-body connection that leads to increased body awareness.

Pilates on a regular basis can lead to:

  • improved balance and posture
  • a decrease in aches and pains – particularly lower back pain
  • less muscle soreness and stiffness; and
  • increased flexibility, strength and muscle tone.

Sandra is a Pilates instructor with a warm, inviting manner and a keen sense of humour. STOTT certified since 2002, Sandra has worked with clients from the ages of 20-92! Recognizing how important connecting and engaging the core muscles of the body is, Sandra has always worked hard with her clients to make sure they “get it” and keep it!
Sandra is Bellies Inc. Certified – meaning she’s qualified to help you deal with diastasis recti and pelvic floor challenges that can result from pregnancy. Pre or Post-natal Pilates can be done privately with Sandra at her studio, or you can join her post-natal Pilates classes at Toronto Yoga Mamas in Leslieville, Toronto.
