I have created a DVD and program for women suffering from incontinence, and the pelvic floor is an area of discussion that is close to my heart. (well, its not really close, but you know what I mean). Last month, I attended a workshop on the Pelvic Floor and Pilates – a topic you think a Pilates instructor would know a lot about. And I do, but I there is always more to learn, and certainly a lot to learn from someone as well-versed as Victoria Dawes.
Victoria is a physiotherapist who specializes in the pelvic floor. Her passion and dedication to pelvic floor health is inspiring. I have an appointment booked with Victoria for an assessment later this month. It will be interesting to see what she has to say. As the pelvic floor is also quite a sensitive area and topic of discussion, I’m also just a little bit nervous about it. Victoria conducts her examination from the inside – really the only accurate way to determine what’s going on with the various muscles that make up the pelvic floor.
I’ll keep you posted, and let you know how the appointment goes. In the meantime, you can find out more about Victoria here. http://www.pelvicfloorplan.com/
